Following news that director Steven Spielberg was considering a reunion with Lincoln and Munichwriter Tony Kushner for a religious drama called The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara, yet another potential project has surfaced, and it would reunite him with another previous collaborator. THRreports Tom Hanks is attached to an untitled Cold War drama written by up and coming writer Matt Charman. The script tells the true story of James Donovan, an attorney who negotiated the release of downed U-2 spy plane pilot Gary Powers, who was held and interrogated by the KGB and imprisoned for espionage. Spielberg isn't attached to the project, but it's one of several he's considering. As we said when TheKidnapping of Edgardo Mortara came up, Robopocalypse and Montezuma are still contenders, and we've also heard that a remake of West Side Story might be in the cards as well. If Spielberg does take on the project, it would mark the fourth time he's teamed up with Hanks following Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me If You Can and The Terminal (not to mention their collaboration as producers on "Band of Brothers"). We just hope Spielberg finds a project soon to follow-up his 2012 Best Picture nominee Lincoln. Thoughts?
