Robin Williams to Look Like a Lady Again in 'Mrs. Doubtfire' Sequel

Since the CBS sitcom "The Crazy Ones" hasn't been a runaway hit, it's time for Robin Williams to go back to the well. Over two years ago, Williams was asked about the possibility of returning for a sequel to the 90s comedy Mrs. Doubtfire, one of the biggest hits of the comedian's career on the big screen. At the time, Williams seemed doubtful saying, "They could never write it." But it's time to dust off the old wig, because THR reports Mrs. Doubtfire 2 is back on the table at Fox 2000 with both Williams and the director Chris Columbus returning for the sequel and Elf screenwriterDavid Berenbaum working on the screenplay.
A potential sequel has been in development since 2001, when Williams' Jumanji co-star and occasional writer Bonnie Hunt was commissioned to try to make the script work. Williams previously said, "They kept trying and it doesn't work... because at the end of the first one they reveal who [Mrs Doubtfire] is. So it ends up being her for five minutes and then she transitions into some old Russian woman." We're not sure what that latter bit is all about, but apparently Berenbaum has some idea of what to do, and Williams and Columbus are hopeful he can make it work. Meanwhile, we're not so sure this is a good idea. What would the story be? Will it turn into a silly Big Momma's House style cop comedy? Thoughts?
