David Koechner to Lead the Young Troops in 'Scouts vs. Zombies'

David Koechner
Following a return as Champ Kind last year in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, comedianDavid Koechner (who can currently be seen in the acclaimed indie thriller Cheap Thrills) is getting into horror comedy mode next. Deadline reveals the frequent guest star on "The Office" and "American Dad!" has landed the role of Scout Leader Rogers in the aptly named Scouts vs. Zombies, about a group of young boy scouts who must defend their town against the undead.Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones director Christopher Landon is at the helm, so this should be an interesting blend of horror and comedy.
Previously, Mud and Joe star Tye Sheridan was added to the cast as the lead scout, a budding honors student who is handsome and athletic but doesn't know it yet, as he is shy to talk to the girl he likes. Meanwhile, Joseph Morgan and Logan Miller play two of the other lead scouts in this battle for their lives. Production will begin in May, but it's not clear when the film might get a release. Could Paramount try to take this film to the Midnight section of Sundance next year? That might be fun, but this kinda feels like a release made for early in 2015, which could be worrisome. Stay tuned.
