Perhaps one of the funniest comedic duos of the past 10 years is that of John C. Reilly and Will Ferrell. While they've only teamed up on Step Brothers and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, they've done plenty of random hilarity online and on the small screen. Last fall we heard Ferrell and Reilly would reteam for a film called Devil's Night, but we're not sure when that project will come together. Now Deadline has word that the hilarious actors will reunite on another project called Border Guards, scripted by In the Loop writer Jesse Armstrong, with Step Brothershelmer Adam McKay circling as director.
Well, Border Guards would see Ferrelly and Reilly as two hapless but earnest friends who decide to give purpose to their lives by protecting America’s borders from the illegal immigrants of Mexico. In the process, they find themselves accidentally stranded in Mexico somehow without identification and must sneak back into the United States. There's tons of potential here, especially with a gifted writer like Armstrong behind the script (his terrorist comedy Four Lions is a must-see). Ferrell and McKay's Gary Sanchez Productions will oversee the film set up at Sony Pictures ad we hope it comes together quickly. Sound good?
