"This seems to only be happening to gay men." Coming next month is one of those films that HBO makes that seems to belong on the big screen, but is hitting cable instead. The Normal Heart is directed by "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy and follows Mark Ruffalo as Ned Weeks, a man who witnesses first-hand the mysterious disease that became known as AIDS as it claims the lives of many in his gay community. Weeks is looking for answers with the help of Dr. Emma Brookner (Julia Roberts), a paraplegic physician who treats several of the earliest victims. Now a full trailer has arrived, and this looks fantastic. Watch now!
The Normal Heart is directed by Ryan Murhpy ("Glee" and "The New Normal") and written by Larry Kramer, based on his own Tony Award-winning stage play of the same name. The story follows the onset of the HIV-AIDS crisis in New York City in the early 1980s, taking an unflinching look at the nation’s sexual politics as gay activists and their allies in the medical community fight to expose the truth about the burgeoning epidemic to a city and nation in denial. Mark Ruffalo, Matt Bomer, Taylor Kitsch, Jim Parsons and Julia Roberts all star in the film which premieres exclusively on HBO on May 25th at 9pm Eastern.
