Former Kollywood and Bollywood queen Sridevi, who turned 50 last year, is all set to return to Tamil screen after many years. Sridevi’s comeback would occur not with a single Tamil film but with two films simultaneously.
Sridevi, who ruled Bollywood along with Madhuri Dixit throughout eighties and the better part of the nineties, came out of her 15-year long hiatus from films by essaying the lead role in the 2012 super-duper hit English Vinglish which was directed by Gauri Shinde.
The film also had Priya Anand and Adil Hussain in lead roles and Sridevi’s portrayal of a housewife went down well with the audiences.
At a time when Sridevi’s eldest daughter Jhanvi is being courted by film-makers who want to introduce her in films as heroine, Sridevi’s second innings in Tamil has started on a good note.
She has already signed up to play a role opposite Bharathiraaja in music director G.V. Prakash Kuar’s Trisha Illainnai Nayanthara and has now signed up to play an important role in Chimbu Devan’s Vijay-starrer.
