Though we previously reported that The Social Network director David Fincher was being eyed to direct the developing biopic on Apple founder Steve Jobs that is set up at Sony Pictures, the filmmaker sadly fell away from the project. Reportedly a disagreement over Fincher's paycheck and creative control is what caused the director to pass on the project, which also means that Christian Bale is up for the role of Jobs anymore. But now it appears we have a new director and lead actor for the film as THR has learned that 127 Hours and Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle is in talks to direct the biopic. But who will star?
Funnily enough, Boyle has Leonardo DiCaprio in his sights to lead the film written by Aaron Sorkin. However, deals aren't quite done at this point, and DiCaprio just committed to star in The Revenant for Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu. That film starts shooting in September, so this biopic likely won't get off the ground until 2015, unless the script and production schedule can come together in the four months between now and production start on The Revenant, which may be possible since the film is supposed to consist of three long scenes, each taking place before the reveal of one of Apple's product launches for Mac, NeXT and the iPod. This would mark the first time Boyle and DiCaprio have worked with Sorkin, and also a reunion since the two worked on the 2000 thriller The Beach. This certainly sounds like a promising collaboration, but we'll see if it actually comes together. Sound good?
