Len Wiseman to Direct Paranormal FBI Sci-Fi Thriller 'Black Chapter'

Len Wiseman
Before taking on the lackluster remake of Total Recall in 2012, director Len Wiseman hadn't been behind the camera since 2007 with the equally disappointing sequel Live Free or Die Hard. Last year Wiseman directed the pilot for the seemingly silly Fox series "Sleep Hollow," and after his plan to direct the reboot of The Mummy for Universal fell through, he seems to have finally found a new project. Deadline has word that Wiseman is set to direct a film called Black Chapter, a paranormal sci-fi thriller about an FBI agent who enters a secret military program where spies are specially trained in paranormal abilities. More below!
We're not sure just what kind of paranormal abilities the program will deal with, but Wiseman gives some insight saying, "Black Chapter is a science fiction story that draws from our own history. I’ve always been fascinated by the mysteries surrounding the CIA’s astral projection program during its MK-ULTRA era. What if those experiments had actually worked? Would we even know?” Wiseman came up with the story with X-Men: The Last Stand and Last Action Hero writer Zak Penn, and the latter is writing the script. The project is set up at Skydance Productions, the company behind Star Trek and Mission: Impossible, so we would expect the film to settle down at Paramount, but we'll see what happens.
