We have less than a month before Gareth Edwards' new monstrous version of Godzilla begins stomping around the world again, and just from the most recent trailer alone, it's clear that this isn't your father's Godzilla. Of course, while the classic monster movie is considered a B-movie, a new featurette has the director talking about how the film was meant to be taken seriously, and certainly in the time it was produced, he's right. And its that inspiration that drew Edwards to remaking Godzilla and not making it campy. He takes sci-fi seriously and wanted this new take on the King of Monsters to have weight. Watch!
Godzilla, being directed by Gareth Edwards (of Monsters), comes from a screenplay written by Drew Pearce, Max Borenstein and Frank Darabont. The cast is lead by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, withBryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe and Juliette Binoche. An epic rebirth to Toho's iconic Godzilla, this spectacular adventure pits the most famous monster against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence. Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures are sending Godzilla stomping into theaters May 16th this summer.
