While we're waiting for Star Wars Day on May 4th to arrive with what presumably will be the big reveal for the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII, Deadline has more fuel for the fire with a table read for the sci-fi sequel looming tomorrow. The latest name to be pegged for a role is Inside Llewyn Davisstar Oscar Isaac, but it's unclear what role he would take. In addition, the two young leads might be locked down, and the return of our three main heroes from the original trilogy seems all but (unsurprisingly) confirmed, with one of them taking a very large role in the blockbuster that is slated to arrive in December of 2015. First, let's talk about our new heroes. It seems like Attack the Block star John Boyega and British stage actress Maisie Richardson-Sellers may end up with the two young hero roles. We don't know anything about Boyega's potential role, but Richardson-Sellers seems likely to be up for the female role rumored to be a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi. To give this latest update credence,Borys Kit of THR just reported that Boyega has dropped out of the Jesse Owens biopic Race. Combine that with the fact that he didn't take the role of Miles Dyson's son in Terminator: Genesis and it seems we have a solid case. As for Richardson-Sellers, she's surfaced more recently and also seems like a lock for the film. But we'll see.
As for the return of our old heroes Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, it just so happens that Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill have all been spotted in London (via EW), which just so happens to be where Star Wars: Episode VII production will be taking place. Hamill popped up in a picture with Peter Serafinowicz (who is also the voice of Darth Maul) on Twitter, Ford was spotted at a restaurant and chilling with some helicopter pilots, and Fisher made a reference to her presence across the pond on her own Twitter feed. Sounds like the gang is back to me.
Even more interesting is that Deadline's report on Star Wars indicates that Ford's role in Episode VII isn't just a passing of the torch kind of appearance and that he actually has a huge part in the film. Does that mean we'll see Ford taking shots at whatever villain Adam Driver has been tapped to play in Episode VII? That remains to be seen, but with May 4th so close, rumors will be swirling non-stop until Disney and Lucasfilm make the official announcement. Stay tuned to see what turns out to be true.
